First, create your own page on the WordPress site. Follow the brief slideshow instructions on creating a page.
Once you have created your page, follow the instructions below to link or embed your timeline on your WordPress page and create a hyperlink on the WordPress home page.
There are two ways to add your timeline to the WordPress site after adding a page, linking or embedding. Choose Step A or Step B, and then proceed to Step C to add your page link to the front page.
Once you have pasted your “publish to the web” link into STEP 3 on the Timeline JS website, scroll down to STEP 4 and do either step A or step B below.
A. Adding the timeline link to your WordPress page:
a. In STEP 3 on the Timeline JS page, click on GET LINK TO PREVIEW. (NOTE: Do not copy the embed code or the iframe code.)
b. When the window opens up with your timeline, copy the URL.
c. Return to your WordPress page.
d. Type in the words to hyperlink.
e. Highlight the words,
and then click on the paperclip icon in the tool bar above.
f. Paste the LINK TO PREVIEW URL in this space.
g. Click the ENTER key – You have now linked your timeline.
h. Click PUBLISH! (on the right sidebar)
B. Embedding the timeline in your WordPress page using the iframe code:
a. In Step 3 on the Timeline JS page, click on the iframe code just above the two boxes labeled Preview and Get link to preview.
b. Once you click on the link, it should be highlighted, copy the link (CTRL C).
c. Return to your WordPress page.
d. Click on the Text box to the left of the icon bar.
e. Paste the iframe code into the page.
f. Click Publish! (Right sidebar) Your timeline should now show on the WordPress page.
C. Now add your name to the front page of the WordPress site and link your PAGE!
a. Click on Pages from the Dashboard of WordPress
b. Choose the Front Page
c. Type your name
d. Highlight your name and click on the link icon
e. Click on the gear button
f. Choose your page from the list and click Add Link
Then click UPDATE on the right sidebar!
